Hello out there in Blogland. I'm so sorry to have been absent lately. Time just seems to have escaped, partly due to visiting friends and family and partly due to being up to my eyeballs in cakes and Birthdays.
Freya created a tag the other day with my Distress inks which I nervously allowed her to use with strict instructions to not mix them up and this is what she created, all by herself. I know I'm a proud Mum but for an 8 year old I think she's done really well. She used a Heidi Grace swirl stamp and the feathers and sentiment were from a new set I've not even used yet from The Stamp Bug.
She must have crafting in her genes. We went to visit my Aunt at the weekend who is currently building a dolls house and she took us to a brilliant shop that sold everything you could think of for Dolls houses. This reminded me of my dolls house that my Dad built for me when I was about 8 and was currently residing at my Mum's house under a dust sheet. On Sunday we went and collected it, gave it a good clean and for a 30 plus year old, it's looking pretty good, although we had a good giggle at the orange kitchen, a real 70's throwback. I think I shall have to modernise a little bit.
The lights still work and it has a front and back that slide on. My Dad was a very talented model maker and I think this was his first. A real heirloom that hopefully will be passed on for many years to come.
Thanks for stopping by. I promise I shall be back with some craft very shortly.

My dad made me a dolls house but as it predates yours by about 20 - 30 years - it didn't have all those mod cons (Neither did we). I'm ashamed to say I don't know what happened to it but the best bet is that it went to a younger cousin somewhere along the line - most things went from family to family with us. Freya's tag is brilliant. A very talented young lady.

Hi Lisa
Looks like you might have competion here, better lock up your crafty stash.
I never had a dolls house - oh I know how sad is that. Not sure if I never wanted one or it just never arrived.
But I was determined my girls would have and it was a perfect excuse for me to play as well and make pretty curtains etc. Little things.

What a fab tag, I would say a very talented 8 year old! That dolls house is wonderful. Have to say I like Brenda never had a dolls house - not my thing then. But can't wait to get Hope her first dolls house. I'm sure you could do wonders modernizing it - but I kind of like its retro appeal! Cheers Claire x
That's what my house looked like when we moved in!!! My kitchen was orange and brown too! My Dolls house (and Meg's) was a bit earlier than yours (more fifties really), as it was passed down to me by my cousins - I have 7 female cousins and I am the youngest. Freya's tag is stunning. She takes after you, definitely. Thank you for your beautiful card - so elegant and beautifully coloured
I think Freya's tag is really lovely, obviously crafty like her Mum!! Gorgeous dolls house. I used to love mine, goodness know where my dad got it, I just know I loved it! Jill x
I can't believe it Lisa! firstly that an 8 year old created that amazing tag and secondly that I've been looking at dolls houses today. Not to do a house but to get my hands on some hardware bits. Is there a shop nearby?
Love your tag too the swirl is perfect and those flowers delightful.

Lovely tag Freya! And I love the dolls house too. I also have one that was made for my mum by my grandfather so it must be about 70 years old now. It is in our loft at the moment, I must find it one day and maybe redecorate it again! xx
Hi Lisa
Please tell Freya tht I think her tag is fantastic. She will be having her own blog before long!!!
As for the dolls house. Fantastic - and how brilliant to have working lights.
My Dad made my sister and I a dolls house when we were little. It was always Christmas in our dolls house. We had a little Christmas tree (which was really a cake decoration) and would make tiny little christmas cards and presents.
We cut out a house name and number from a catalogue and it was known as 19 Windy Ridge.
Oh - happy days.
Thanks you for the trip down memory lane.
Love Jules xx
Oh this is lovely Lisa. I bet it brings back lots of memories. It even reminded me of the kitchen in the first house my Hubby and I bought 38 years ago. That had an orange and brown colour scheme - not for long though!
You have every right to be a proud Mum. Freya's tag is gorgeous and I think she's exceptionally talented for 8 years old. Your stash is definitely not safe now, Lol!
I'm not sure what's happening with blogger but I never seem to get notification of your posts any more on my blog. I've even been and checked to make sure I am still following you. I'll have to keep a closer watch.
Hugs
Lesley Xx
