WOYWW 294

Morning dear WOYWW friends. I hope you are well this Wednesday morning and if you are in the UK, I hope you are keeping warm. We are not used to this chilly weather are we after such a mild 12 months?

I'm looking forward to hopping round the desks of those of you in warmer climes so that I can come and warm my fingers up a bit.

Right, here is my desk as of yesterday afternoon.

I am still sticking to my "using up stash" policy and am making cards out of the remnants of a very old card kit I discovered while clearing out. It's very satisfying to make something out of not much and my box of cards is building up nicely so there should be no last minute birthday card making this year.

Here are the finished cards I was making last week. I'm really pleased how these turned out and intend to try playing a bit further as I have ideas buzzing around. As I said last week, I found this idea on Pinterest and this is the link to the tutorial. Mine look completely different but I love how you get the reverse impression of the stencil printed out.

Just to show you how chilly it is here in Yorkshire, this is the view out of my craft room window.

Well, that's me today. If you want to share your desk with a lovely bunch of people, then pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE.

Enjoy whatever you are up to today and Happy Crafting.

A Bit More Sheena

Morning folks from a wintery Yorkshire. Looks like we are all in for a chilly spell of weather next week. I'm glad we can stay under the duvet for a bit longer with it being the weekend.

Anyway, I'm just popping by to let you know that Sheena is back on your screens on Create and Craft on Monday with 2 shows at 9am and 4pm. She will be doing more with the gorgeous stamps and dies that she launched at the CHA last week and hopefully will have more time to show you exactly what these beauties can do.

I thought I'd share one of my favourites with you.

This flower is going to be really useful and I want to try making some 3d flowers with it but just using it with the branch stamp and die makes a very easy card.

Enjoy your weekend whatever you are up to and keep warm.

Happy Crafting!

WOYWW 293

Morning dear WOYWW friends. I hope you are well this Wednesday and ready for a quick hop around the world of workdesks. I love these Wednesday trips to places far flung, sometimes colder than here and sometimes a lot warmer. It definitely cheers up the dark days of January.

Here is mine as of yesterday afternoon. It hasn't changed any since the photo was taken.

I am experimenting with a technique I found on Pinterest and have been having fun playing with some stencils I'd forgotten I had as well as some stamps that I've had for ages but haven't seen ink up until now....
I intend to do the same technique but experiment with other colours next. This  actual using stuff instead of just buying it is great fun!!!!!!

The Brusho backgrounds from last week have also been put to good use and I made one of them into the cover of this book that now holds some clear stamps.

It's some old cardboard packaging that has been painted with acrylic paints in the same colours as the Brushos and I then stamped the raindrops on top to match the the topper.  I have stored my clear stamps in these little books for a long time, each one being for a different type, i.e. sentiments, backgrounds etc so I can actually find them when I want them as they fit on my little bookcase.

Before I pop off today I just wanted to share these glittery critters that my MIL knitted for my daughter for Christmas.

LLJ was having a go at them last week so I thought I'd share ours. MIL also knitted some for my friend but didn't sew them up before she gave them to her as she didn't have enough stuffing and my friend had us all in stitches when she wore them as hats!!!!!

Well, that's me today. If you want to share your desk with us then pop over to see the lovely Julia, HERE.

I'll be round to see what you've been up to after work so have a good Wednesday and Happy Crafting!

More Sheena CHA Sneaky Peeks

Morning Folks

Well today is the big day. Sheena will be on our screens at 3pm today which I think is an unearthly time in the USA so I know which I'd prefer. Anyway, as promised, here a couple more samples I made using the brilliant new dies and stamps which she will be launching on the show.

I used one of the frame dies for my scarecrow. I cut it out of black card and then clear embossed it. The flowers are actually daisy stamps and dies but I made them into sunflowers, these are going to be very useful in future. I made the background using acquaints and some on the stencils that Sheena launched recently.

This set has to be one of my favourites, Blackberries, leaves and flowers, all with their own dies, which made putting this card together really easy. I coloured everything with distress inks, just adding a little pen on top to make some of the berries red and adding some white gel pen as highlights.

I hope you like them as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting.

Sheena's Big Launch At The CHA

Afternoon everyone. I hope you are all well and have survived the wild weather of the past few days. Thankfully, we haven't had to venture far but the wind is sooooo cold, roll on spring!!

Anyway, I'm just popping by today with some very exciting news. Sheena Douglass will be launching some very exciting new products live from the CHA in America tomorrow at 3pm on C&C so set your recorders, you won't want to miss it.

For the first time she now has some dies that co-ordinate beautifully with her gorgeous stamps of which there are many new sets, all countryside based. They are fantastic and I had a brilliant time experimenting with them before Christmas.

Here are a couple of samples to wet your appetite.

This first one incorporates several sets of new stamps, isn't that tractor gorgeous, and some of the new floral stamps and dies in the foreground. Everything works beautifully together in Sheena's usual creative way. I coloured everything with distress inks on this sample.

Again, this card uses a mix of sets. The bird is a single stamp and die set and then the branch and leaves are on a larger set with the birdhouse stamp and sentiments and other bits and pieces. Full details of all the sets are on the Crafters Companion website. I used Distress inks for the background and leaves and coloured the bird with promarkers.

I'll be back tomorrow with some more sneeky peeks but don't forget to look out for the show tomorrow at 3pm.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and Happy Crafting!

WOYWW 292

Morning dear WOYWW friends and a Happy New Year to you all. I hope 2015 is a good one for us all.

I can't believe the Festive period is now firmly behind us and we are heading steadily into January. Still it's really good to be back amongst the workdesks again.

Here is mine as of yesterday afternoon in some very welcome sunshine.

My New Years Resolution is not to buy any new craft stuff but use and explore the masses I already have, which is exactly what I'm doing at the minute. I bought a box of Brushos months ago and they sat unopened but not any more. That pile of backgrounds is proof of that. My daughter and I have had a brilliant time sprinkling and spraying with them, fascinated by the effects you can create and I am now attempting to actually make something out of all our experimenting. Hopefully I will get a bit more time later today to finish what I've started. This is hopefully going to be part of a cover for a book to keep all my stamps in.

You might also be able to spot the remnants of our Christmas cake in the background....yes that pile of crumbs!!!!!

This is what it did look like.

We whipped up the royal icing so well that we've almost had to use a pneumatic drill to get through it, it's so hard, tasted good though.

My daughter also decorated her first gingerbread house...... that tasted good too. I think it's time to start that diet now!

Well that's me for today. If you want to share your work desk with lots of lovely like minded people, then pop over to see the lovely Julia, HERE.

I'll be round to see what you've all been up to later after work.

Thanks for popping by and Happy Crafting!
