Bling It On At The Stampman

Hello lovely Crafters. I hope you have all survived this amazing weather we had yesterday. The scenes on the TV last night were incredible. Thankfully, we didn't even have a spot of rain here and today it's much fresher.

Over at The Stampman it's time for a new challenge and this time we are thinking about Bling.

For my DT project I didn't go with the usual jewels and glitter Bling but added some lovely shimmer and lustre instead.

I coloured this beautiful Stampendous Cling mermaid with promarkers and then applied glossy accents so that the distress inks could be added over the top. The whole thing was sprayed with mica powder and I love how it ran over the glossy accents making a very watery effect. The whole thing was edged with Artemio swirls and Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder.

DD has been so fed up since getting back from her Northumberland holiday last week, she enjoyed it so much, that I've made it into a hanger for her to cheer her up. She loves anything to do with mermaids and fairies so it's now hanging in her bedroom.

The rest of the DT have created some stunning work so I hope you'll pop over to the challenge blog and have a look and, as always, Jill is offering a £10 voucher to spend at The Stampman website for the winner so we look forward to seeing all your sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend whatever the weather.

WOYWW 160

Morning lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends. I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted and here we are again for more desk snooping. Where do these weeks go to? If you want to join in all the fun of WOYWW you need to visit our Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE.

Here's my desk this week.

Back on the dining table as you can see. I spent last night working on this scrapbook layout of the flooded river from last Saturday. I like to be among the family when I craft at night hence being at the table. There's not a lot to see I'm afraid. I've been using scraps up for this layout although the main background is from Prima, one of my favourite paper companies at the minute. I've still got the journalling to do and have been scribbling some notes on a scrap of paper before I commit it to the page.

I hope you all escaped the floods after that awful weather we had up North in the UK last Friday. It was more like November than June with the wind and rain. Our river was very high but thankfully it didn't break it's banks. I walked past this spot today and the Willow is well clear of the water now.

I've also been really lucky to receive some more beautiful ATC's this week. It's so exciting to see envelopes on the mat that you know are going to contain something exciting inside.

These beauties are from Kay all the way from America (on the left) and Sandra all the way from Australia(on the right). Thank you so much ladies I adore them both.

Before I set off on some desk hopping this morning I thought I'd leave you with a smile.

Our DD arrived home from her week in Northumberland last Friday in all that terrible weather and we emptied her case out onto the lounge floor so that all the damp clothes could go straight into the washer. The case was left open to air out and when we came back in someone had taken up residence!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great Wednesday.

WOYWW 159

Morning lovely crafters and dear WOYWW friends. Another sunny morning here in Yorkshire. We have been so lucky this week although I think today is the last day, more rain tomorrow!!!! Oh well, mustn't be greedy.

Here is my desk today, a bit of a bomb site really. Our DD is on her school residential this week in Northumberland so we are having a really quiet time but my desk has the remnants of the packing on it as well as the things I need to make some more ATC's in return for all the lovely ones I've received.
Here they are in all their glory.

Going round clockwise from the top thank you to
Jozarty
Sandra
LLJ for her living ATC which has already been scattered in the garden
and Sam.

I've been really touched by your kindness even though I was absent from the birthday bash and I know there are others on their way, hence the need to make some more.

Before I go I thought I'd just share my finished Triptych from last week. I've faffed and fiddled but I think it's done now.

I've tried to be brief, Julia, very difficult for someone who talks too much. If you want to join in this wonderful world of WOYWW, pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, HERE.

I'm gadding out to the local garden nursery with my Mum in a few minutes so I'll be back to nosy around your desks later.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your lovely comments and very kind wishes. I do appreciate you all so much.

A Few Sheena Silhouette Samples

Evening all. I hope you have managed to enjoy this beautiful sunshine we have been blessed with today. It's been glorious here. I've cut the grass and tried to tame our somewhat neglected garden. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a bit more done tomorrow.

As promised, here are some of the samples I did recently for the last Create and Craft shows that Sheena did. These sets of stamps were so popular they sold out in record time and I'm not surprised, they are lovely to work with.

This first one was done on a clinged filmed H20 background. These two colours are among my favourites for this technique, they just go together so well. I embossed the images with Blueberry WOW powder.

The next two are both done on distress ink backgrounds that are then sprayed with mica powder. Can you tell this is my favourite technique at the minute??

The stamps are all individual so you can create any scene you want. I just added some hand drawn birds to the last one.

Well, I think it's time for another cuppa and maybe a little potter in my greenhouse before it gets too late.

Thanks for stopping by.

Time Or Travel at The Stampman

Hello everyone. Can you believe it's the middle of June. I am wearing a jumper and the heating has been on. Still on the bright side the sun is trying to get out, thankfully we had all the rain during the night so "mustn't grumble".

If it's Friday it must be time for another challenge over at The Stampman. I've unfortunately missed quite a few but it was nice to be challenged again and this time Frankie is asking us to think of Time or Travel.

While I was waiting for my mopped floors to dry yesterday I took refuge in my craft room and just started to play with some Distress inks and this is what I came up with for my DT project.

I like both themes so have incorporated them into a cover to make a minibook for my holidays making a collage from various Tim Holtz stamps over the distressed background, that was sprayed with some Moonglow Glitz Spritz I bought from Jill many moons ago and it has sat very much unloved on my shelf ever since. Like most messy crafters I have numerous mica sprays from different companies but I have to say this one has given one of the best touches of glimmer I've seen.

Jill is offering a £10 Voucher to spend at The Stampman website so why not have a go while the weather is so dismal. The rest of the DT have created some gorgeous ideas to give you further inspiration so don't forget to have a peek.

I know I promised you a look at some of the samples I did for Sheena's shows but time has just run away from me this week so I'll be back with those over the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely get well comments you have left me. They mean so much.

Have a great weekend whatever you are up too.

WOYWW 158

Morning lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends.

How lovely it is to be back amongst you after an enforced absence which was much longer than I'd hoped. I had to have a Hernia operation on 15th May which I thought would only keep me away from my computer for a day or so but for almost a forntnight all I could was sit in a chair with a book. Thankfully we had Summer during that time and the sunshine was a wonderful healer. I am now back to normal and raring to catch up with with you all. I know I've missed lots of lovely creations. I also need to catch up with some crafting, I only picked up some stash for the first time last week.

I was so disappointed to have missed the WOYWW  ATC swap but must say a huge thank you for some lovely ATC's I received through the post, they were such a surprise and I now have some ready to go out in return. A very belated Happy 3rd WOYWW Birthday to everyone.

So, here is my desk today.

I had some DT work to do for Sheena last week which I'll share with you tomorrow but now I am just enjoying doing some crafting "just for me".  Such a rarity nowadays. My lovely Hubby made me the piece I am working on out of wood the day after I came out of hospital but I have only just got round to playing with it. As always I started without a plan and am just seeing where I end up.

Here is the front so far, but the inside is still a work in progress.

Right, I'm off to get a fresh cuppa in readiness for a mammoth desk hopping session. If you have read all this and wondered what on earth I'm talking about then you need to pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I thought you might all have forgotten me!!!
