WOYWW 207

Morning Crafters and dear WOYWW friends. Another week has flown by and I have been sadly absent from the  Blogging World again. I've been up to my eyeballs in DT work and also scuttling outside to play in the garden every time the sun shone over the weekend. Well it is such a rarity, you have to make the most of it don't you?

I very nearly didn't share my desk this week as I had put everything away last night after finishing the last project but then my lovely DH came home with a new toy to play with so everything has come out again.

He uses uncompressed paper to make whatever it is he does at work and as he's always interested in my craft he wondered if I can use it with my inks and stuff so we have been experimenting this morning to see what it does and how it's different from plain ordinary card. I have to say I'm feelin the love. You can use it in all the same way as card but it looks and feels like fabric and inks on it are beautiful and soft.

The uncompressed paper is on the left and the card on the right. I spritzed both with water and dried them. I'd be interested to know what you think.

We've embossed it and die cut it so far and played with distress inks but I need to put it through it's paces a bit more yet.

So that's my desk today. I can't wait to get round to see what you've all been up too. I haven't done any blog hopping for a week so need to have a catch up.

By the way, if you want to see what we got up to on the DT retreat last week, Sheena has a photo on her blog.

Thanks for stopping by and if you want to join in the fun of WOYWW then pop over to see our lovely Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE.

That paper looks lovely - bet you could stroke it all day. I'm thinking you could have made a great crafting discovery between the two of you - now are you going to be the only one who gets to play with it though?

Wow, that gives. Really good effect...I've never even heard of uncompressed paper! I think there might be a demand after this :-)
It has been a busy week, especially the in scheduled trip to Wales, but things have calmed down slightly this week, thank goodness!
Hope you and yours are well and happy,

I love both pieces and I suppose it depends of the effect you are after with what ever you are making.

Looks like you now have another great resource to play with at the craft table. Love the soft effect with the inks and it seems to emboss and die cut beautifully. We will probably all be searching for uncompressed paper now. Have a lovely week.

Hi Lisa
wow I think your husband has stumbled on a gem there, it looks amazing and for it to feel like fabric how great is that.
Is he ready to set up a business and start selling this lovely card?
Sending hugs and hoping you have a great day

I think the paper is lovely but more than that I think it is lovely that he is interested in your art work. I think that is a rarity and should be embraced! Beautiful effects and I can see you doing more with this.

I think your experiment is an absolute success! I love the whole effect, and the paper has such an interesting texture to it. Sometimes I've put everything away and forgotten to snap a photo too! I don't have a whole craft room where I can just shut the door on my mess. Thanks for your lovely visit today! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #106

Your experiment looks good, a richer depth of colour. It looks very much like handmade paper.
Thanks for visiting already.

What a fun post, Lisa! On my monitor the decompressed paper colors look brighter and prettier. How does it stand up? I mean, literally. If it feels like fabric, could you only use it as a layer, not for the actual card base? Which is fine, of course, I'm just curious.

Thanks for coming by the Playhouse earlier! Have a wonderful week!! Darnell #64
