My New Filing Cabinet

Afternoon folks. I hope you are enjoying the weekend so far. It's chilly again here in Yorkshire and we've had a few snow flurries this morning but it's not amounted to much and is now just grey and dismal. After last weekend's taste of Spring I think we are back to Winter again.

DD has gone off to Grandma's for the weekend so we have spent a quiet day doing just what we want which for me has been playing with paints and stamps of course.

DH has been clearing out the contents of his old office to transport down to his new office and in between it has all been living in our Conservatory. A very old filing cabinet appeared and he asked me if I could use it. You don't have to ask twice!!!!! It had originally been rescued from a mill when it was closing down and must be decades old judging by the original state of it.

Last weekend we rubbed all the old paint down and this is the the back of it so you can see the original colour.

With some love and care, it now looks like this!

I used some of my MIL's left over emulsion paint to give it several coats and then just started playing. I added some coloured acrylic paint, stamped with distress inks and sprayed with glimmer mists to create a background and then used some of the new floral stamps from Sheena. I love the way you can build up any size of design you want with them.

They were stamped with Stazon and then DD painted all the leaves with twinkling H20's. I then added the flowers and painted those with the new polished pigments. The shine you get with them is amazing but they were a bit solid for my liking so I added some detail with white acrylic paint.

My lovely Hubby has spent the afternoon cleaning up the handles and it looks like new. I'm really pleased with it and can't wait to get it into my craft room and filled with all the A4 paper and card I currently have in boxes all over the place. I've just got to make some space for it. I can feel a tidy up coming on.

Thanks for stopping by and for all the lovely comments you always leave me. They always make me smile.

Happy Crafting.

Wow, Lisa, what an amazing transformation! It looks fantastic! I've had a couple of small Ik*a storage drawer sets for years , still plain wood, never got round to painting them. Having seen yours, I'm beginning to think it's time I did! Great inspiration. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and good luck with the tidy up!

Hugs, Lynne x

Oh wow, Lisa! How totally gorgeous! I love what you have done with it. There are two very plain grey ones in my craft space if you ever get the urge to do another one! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I hope it isn't too cold for you x

Oh wow Lisa. This is fabulous. It must have taken you ages but is sooo worth it. The only downside I could see if I had something as gorgeous as this in my craft room, is that I wouldn't be able to use the top for more storage. How could I ever cover up something so beautiful.

Oh wow, Lisa...what a great job you've made of that! Did I ever tell you that I've got a bit of a weakness for cupboards with lots of drawers?? No?? Well, I do! So if you ever get bored with that....you know where to find me!! *grin*
It's bloomin' perishing down here too with lots of snow flurries but nothing is sticking, the air is too dry. It's weird weather.....
