WOYWW 174

Morning lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends.

Another week has flown by and it's been a week of big, big changes in The Craft Garden. Facing redundancy from the job he has been in for nearly 30 years my DH started up on his own on Monday. An exciting thing to do but also very scary. Thankfully, he has the backing of an established company but they are based in Chesterfield which is a 90 minute commute from here. I think that has been the biggest challenge so far and it means a very early start. I'm now getting an extra 3 hours crafting every day!!!!!!

So what is on my desk this early in the morning.

Lots of distress inks. I was inspired by a desk last week, sorry I can't remember whose, but a lot of blue and brown inks were being used and so I decided to have a play with that combination and I love it. This is my second sheet. The first one has already been used up but I can't share that with you just yet. I love the fact that you can just splodge the inks onto card and they turn into something really beautiful after being sprayed with either water or a mica spray.

Yesterday, the sun was shining so I played at my Greenhouse desk. Do you remember those Lantana plants I was nurturing in my Craft Room last Winter? Those of you who live in Australia will just have to shut your eyes, but look at them now.

Two survived and they are really beautiful. It's taken all Summer for them to get going but they have rewarded me well.

I'm now nurturing my last remaining Dahlia that didn't end up as the monster slugs dinner. Isn't it a lovely colour?

So that's my desks this week. If you want to share yours then pop over to see our lovely Desk Headmistress, Julia,  HERE.

Lots of you commented on my H20's last week and many said you had them lurking in a drawer from years ago. I've recently rediscovered mine and there is so much that you can do with them apart from just painting. If anyone is interested I'll do another post on how to make backgrounds with them.

Thanks for stopping by. It's our 14th Wedding Anniversary today so I'm celebrating with a cuppa in bed even though it's 6.20am in the morning. Hopefully,  I'll see you at a desk near you later on in the day.

Have a Crafty Wednesday.

Hi Lisa - fabby background and yes please to how to make backgrounds with H20s :)

Didn't realise you had such green fingers - super plants there.

The long commute will be tough on your hubby, Len used to do similar (in fact I did too for a lot of years) - but, those extra hours for you I must admit (selfishly) were great when I had them. I was up with the larks and then launched straight into the day here.

Happy WOYWW. Di xx

Love all the greens, browns, and blues on your desk. Those lantanas look awesome. Saw a lot growing outside in Spain last year and was so envious of them. Have a great week. Vickie #22

Hi Lisa, So sorry to hear about the forced change in circumstances but I hope it goes really well. My son had to strike out on his own (can't believe that was 14 years ago) but they've had a decent life on it. Now the boys are older he wants to get back on the farm though. Lantanas are something I've not had - they look gorgeous. Think I need to have a go at some backgrounds now I've seen your scrummy ones from this week.

Happy Anniversary to you Lisa.... Hope the change in DH's work is the start of a great new phase for you both. Love the flower pics... those Lantanas look as if they smell gorgeous... if you get my drift.
Sorry to disappoint you ( me too) but I'm not attending Harrogate, I just mentioned it was on and might be the reason Port Sunny wasn't as busy! Never mind eh, one day. Go and say Hello to my bezzy mate Neet on Oyster Crafts instead!

Well good luck to your DH on his new venture...you'll soon grow out of getting (let alone waking) up with him! A cup of tea n bed richly deserved, congrats on your anniversary! The Lantana has been worth the effort..beautiful stuff. I don't have a single mica based spray that actually works now, am very sprayed off by it all!!

Happy Anniversary Hun, I hope you both have a lovely day.

Your background sheet is coming along nicely. I was working with Blue and Brown distress ink myself last week and it’s such a lovely combination. You can use the exact same colours every time and never end up with the same look.

Happy Crafting!

Happy Anniversary to you both and I hope you find some time today to celebrate together. All that extra commuting is hard on you both, so make the most of any time together. Your plants are beautiful, and well done for keeping them going. Have a good week. xx Maggie #36

Happy Anniversary and Good luck for DH with the new venture. Lovely plants you are showing us and gorgeous backgrounds with the DI's.
Have you tried my stencil background with them? Think it was yesterdays blog post.
Also try Wild Honey with Tumbled Glass (where they overlap it goes a lovely green, and then a smidging of Rusty hinge, especially on the edges.)

Hi Lisa, belated wishes for a happy anniversary - I hope you've had a lovely day.

I like the blues and browns you are working with - the only blue DI I have is Stormy Skies which might not be as effective. However, I'm pleased with the colours I've been mixing. I've completed a card with the one that was on my desk this morning and even made another in quite different colours - I'll post them later so look out for them and see what you think.

Your Lantanas are lovely and the dahlia is stunning.

I would love for you to do a tutorial post on how to make backgrounds with the H2Os - I still haven't opened my pots yet but will definitely do so this afternoon.

Hope you have a good week, and a belated happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #49
