Too Hot To Craft!!

Phew!!!! I'm sitting here melting. I love the hot weather, but today has been soooo hot and I feel so lethargic that not much crafting has happened. There's also been the tennis to keep an eye on.

I've nothing new to show you so I thought I'd share a few photos of our day out on Monday. It was a training day and my DD is becoming really interested in photography and wanted to go somewhere where she could practise so we went to our local RHS garden, Harlow Carr. She certainly experimented with great gusto and came home with 260 photos!!!!! Thank goodness for digital cameras. She got some great shots though, being small and lying on the grass created some unusual angles!!

I was a little more restrained and these are some of mine.

Harlow Carr is famous for it's Primulas and they were just at their best. A real riot of colour.

The Long Borders were just coming into flower. In a few weeks they'll be spectacular.

My shot of a foxglove by sitting (not lying, I'd never get up again) on the grass.

A new bed had been planted up just with blue poppies. Each one was a different variety, I didn't know there were so many and this was my favourite. It had a mauve tint and was much frillier.

Aren't we lucky to have this on our doorstep. I heard one lady telling another visitor that this was her local park. That's how we feel and there's some thing new to see on every visit, even in the depths of winter.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a good week so far. I don't envy you if you've been stuck indoors. They are promising that it'll be a bit fresher tomorrow, here's hoping!!

Wow Lisa! What amazing photos - haven't been to Harlow Carr recently, but it really is a beautiful place to visit, particularly in this lovely weather! Let's hope it lasts a while.
Love and hugs, Sylvia xxxx

Fabulous pictures, saw a wonderful rose border last week dotted with white foxgloves - much better than our wild self-sown pnik jobbies!

It's much cooler here but no rain yet, my goodness the garden needs it, so many distressed plants...

Beautiful photos, Lisa. That blue poppy is just stunning. You're lucky to have somewhere like that close by to visit.

I'm afraid I'm not keen on the heat, especially when it's humid too. Like you, I don't feel like crafting when it's so hot, my brain seems to seize up! It's been a bit cooler here today though, thankfully, and I've been trying to revive my mojo by looking for techniques I haven't tried before. Found a couple to experiment with. Whether they'll evolve into finished items remains to be seen!

Have a good weekend. xx

Fabulous photos Lisa! I went to Harlow Carr on my first holiday with Steve and his parents over 20 years ago. We must go again sometime! Good to hear Freya is becoming a budding photographer. I remember a similar trip with Meg to Clumber Park (In the walled garden) When Meg took over 200 photos , mainly of Dahlias!
We had sports day today and it was cooler than it had been with some cloud. Much better than last year when I burned through factor 30

Hi Lisa

Your photographs are gorgeous and you have taken them very artistically (is that a real word?).

Today has been very pleasant here. The air has been much fresher and tonight we have a little rain for our brown and dry lawns.

Hope you are OK.

Love Jules xx

Morning Lisa

What fabulous pictgures, wonderful clarity. The digitalis is lovely, very similar to some of mine, such elegant flowers.

Might sound morbid, but I lost my Dad last year and following his wishes it was a woodland burial. It is very restrictive what they allow you to plant for obvious reasons, but digitalis are one of those permitted.

So last summer I planted six on his grave, it was too late for much to happen with them last year, but when I visited him a couple of weeks ago I was met with the most wonderful array of colour.
