Anything Goes

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend. We've had some sunshine and also a lot of cloud but at least it's been dry and warm. Summer might just return.

The school holidays have now arrived, goodness, where did that school year go? It was a very emotional last day on Friday with both the Deputy Head and Headmaster retiring after more than 20 years. I've never seen so many children looking so distraught at home time. They will both be missed. Six weeks now stretch out before us but I'm sure they'll whizz by. We have lots of things planned.

While I still had my freedom I managed to complete a card for The Stampman's new fortnightly challenge blog where Anything Goes for this first challenge.

I recently treated myself to the Nautical Aspects of Design sheet and really enjoyed playing with Starburst stains and Moonglow inks. They all lend themselves brilliantly to these stamps.

The script was stamped directly onto the card and broken china and brushed cordoray DI rubbed around the edge.

I scrunched starburst stains on cartridge paper and once dry rubbed Walnut Stain DI over the top.

The script was then stamped with Walnut Stain DI onto watercolour paper that had been sprayed with Moonglow ink.

The main stamp was stamped and clear embossed and I added the pale blue Starbust stain on top. It has a lovely shine in real life. The compass was stamped again and more brushed corduroy added to darken it and then I added it with foam pads for some dimension.

Thanks for looking and for your wonderful, chatty comments. I really do love reading them. I shall do my best to keep up with my return visits but, please bear with me if things go quiet. I will catch up with you all eventually.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your kind thought about little Willy. It's all a bit odd without him and neither Harry or I are very cheerful at the mo!!?
I love what you have done here, subtle and effective - maybe you should help me with my Venice book???

Fab card - love the sea and sand shades you've used to match the nautical theme.

I think the best bit about the school hols (when I was a teacher) was that feeling when you walked out of the door of the building - knowing that you had the whole holiday to look forward to - after that it seemed to just fly past way tooooooo quickly!

Hi Lisa

This is awesome - I love what you have done here.

So, six weeks of holidays ahead of you. I hope lots more of your lovely creations are part of the plans.

Have fun!

Love Jules xx

Beautiful card - for some reason when I mess around with distress inks, I end up with a splodgy mess of brown instead of the lovely soft colours you have! A bit more practise needed, me thinks!

Cor, I'm way behind with visiting my favourite blogs Lisa, so my apologies.

This is really wonderful. So many different elements and textures to it. I love that nautical plate of stamps and use it so many times for men's cards.

Hugs
Lesley Xx

Hi Lisa - fabulous card - love the scrunched and spritzed paper (must try some of those starburst stains)! This is a great Stampman set - ideal for a man's card, and I love the vintage look you've created.
Hope to hear from you soon.
