Experimenting

We've had a lovely sunny couple of days here, after a wet wet Saturday so it's been nice to get back in the garden although I have a real slug problem this year. All my seed grown Cosmos and Dahlias have been eaten to stalks so the colour that should be in the border now is sadly lacking. I will have to have a rethink for next year, but that is gardening for you, nothing stands still and there is always something to do.

We are on countdown for our Holidays now. I am not a clever blogger and don't yet know how to schedule posts to appear when I am not here, note to self to learn this for next time, so when my blog goes quiet, you will know what has happened.

I thought I would should you a card I made last week experimenting with moonglow mica powder. I saw Dawn Bibby do this technique on QVC recently and wanted to give it a go.

Versmark was applied to the whole piece of dark card and the powder randomly applied and then my stamp, Autumn Leaves Fine and Dandy again, was inked with versamark and stamped onto the powder removing it to create a negative.

The background card was stamped with the same image and pigment powder was applied to cuttlebugged embossed card and I used this for the strip at each side. The words were from Elusive Images.

Thank you for visiting.

Hi Lisa,
This is beautiful, it's great to experiment and even better when it turns out as gorgeous as this.
I'm sorry I can't help you with scheduling posts, I don't know how to do it either!

p.s. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been feeding the slugs this year!

Wow what an amazing technique. I missed Dawn Bibby doing that but it looks really intriguing. Love the way you experiment with things!

What a stunning result Lisa. I have seen that technique done a couple of times and keep forgetting to have a go myself, but you've made a beautiful card and the image you have used suits the technique perfectly.

This is really lovely. I haven't seen this technique demonstrated but it looks worth a try. Must remeber to try it before I forget. We have a major slug problem here but one of the plants that seem fairly slug proof are hardy geraniums. Good thing really as they are my passion and I have hundreds of them. Have a great holiday.

A really beautiful piece. I only managed one courgette this year - the slugs and snails got the rest - must have been ideal slug weather! Cheers Claire x

Hi Lisa - I love what you are doing with this technique, I haven't seen the mica powder in Canada yet, the result is beautiful. I love dandelions and seed pods too. Thanks for visiting my blog. If you ever - make that WHEN - you come to Vancouver, a trip to Vancouver Island is a must. Have a wonderful day. Cheers!

I love this Lisa. I will have to have a go at that. I will see if it works with some of the other mica powders I have x
