WOYWW 575

Morning gentle Deskers. I hope I find you well this cloudy Wednesday morning. Sorry I haven't joined in with you for a few weeks. The beautiful weather pulled me outside and then I had to go back to work on June 1st, which was a bit of a shock to the system. Coming out of this situation is much harder than going into it and I've found myself really struggling with joining the outside world again, not something I've ever experienced before and I'm not sure I like it much. Thankfully, the school office is very quiet. I am on my own and although we have some children back in school, it is a very different world and I rarely see them as they are kept in their classrooms or outside all day. We have Years 1 & 6 back this week and with Reception returning next week and a class of keyworker children, the school is being fully used so goodness knows where the other years will go when they eventually return. Thank goodness it is not my job to work out these logistics. Our Head Teacher is certainly earning her money at the minute.

Anyway onto desk things. Here is my desk this morning.

Pretty uninteresting to be honest. I have just finished various projects I had on the go and all that's on there at the moment are some photos waiting to be put in my journal and my morning cuppa. Unfortunately, not Yorkshire Tea, Sandra.

I have two birthdays next week. This is my MIL's 80th card using the gorgeous Lavina Stamp bunny.

And I went a bit more extreme for my sister with one of my favourite AALL and Create stamps. I inked an acrylic block, spritzed it and stamped with it to create the background and I really like the effect it created. I hope she likes it too.

I've been busy making face coverings for family and work colleagues over the last few weeks

and had lots of scraps left so I decided to make some quilt blocks with them. If I have enough I'll make a lockdown quilt with them.

Well, I think that's me this week. If you want to share your desk with a lovely group of people then pop over to see Julia at WOYWW headquarters.

I'm on my way over to see what everyone's been up doing.

Enjoy your Wednesday, Take care and Happy Crafting!!

Hope school starts being a little more familiar soon Lisa. No children are allowed near the office at ours and staff are encouraged to phone rather than popping in as well. I know what you mean about headteachers earning their money at the moment. we have a 4th Y6 hub starting next week (3 up to now) as well as the KS2 and KS3 key worker hubs. I expect we will be back on a two weekly in school rota for the last four weeks. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #17

Hello Lisa, so lovely to see you back and it looks like you have been very busy with projects and work. I understand completely the reluctance to return to interactions with the outside world. We crafters really have created our own little piece of tranquility in a crazy world. Gorgeous cards by the way :)
Stay safe as you create.

Hi Lisa. I think I agree with you - coming out of lockdown will be harder than either going into it or being in it. I'm, weather permitting, going to visit some friends this afternoon. We are still limited to around 5 miles here in Wales - and that can be VERY limiting in a country area - however. I'm quite nervous I admit. As you say - that's weird!
Your cards are great - well done. Facemasks too. You have been busy between being in school. I'm sure you will manage a quilt!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Well, you say you haven't bee n crafty but there's some gorgeous things on your post today - the cards are fab, I like both designs very much and making the quilt blocks from the mask leftovers is a great idea! It must be odd going back into school and I share your unease about going out much at the moment, G and I have decided that we're quite happy out of the madness for a while longer.

The cards are beautiful - I love the delicate layers of stamping on the rabbit one - so pretty and magical, and the vibrant red background on the other one works so well with the phone box stamp, which is just a fabulous stamp and I can see why it's one of your favourites.
I think a lot of us are struggling more with coming out of lock down than we did going into it - I hope you settle into the 'new normal' and stay as stress free as you can.

Hi Lisa, I couldn't believe it when I saw how long it was since you were last here but the nice thing is that we can come in and out and everyone welcomes you back. I really hope everything goes well at school, it's a very difficult time especially as the government keep changing their minds about what should be done, they have no idea really of how difficult this is for schools and then there was one silly guy on the TV who said it was okay for teachers staying at home and getting paid for it. Shows how little he understands about what's really going on. Loving the cards, you've used two of my most favourite makes of stamps. Have a lovely week and a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x19x

hope you adjust to being back at school soon. I am still working from home and although I am keen to go back to the office to meet up with people,(at a distance of course) - the getting there (not meant to walk too far in case I have another dizzy spell and don't like the idea of public transport yet) is a bit daunting... The cards you made are just fab, Helen #1

Hi Lisa, both your cards are gorgeous, I have quite a few Lavinia stamps - they even have their own folder above my desk! I'm not so much struggling with going out or rejoining the world. One of my struggles has been with not seeing my daughters, and their families for so long, and my siblings. We can now plan some social distances visits, so I'm hoping that makes me feel better. I have no plans to return to the office yet, so I've no idea if that will make me anxious or not. As you say it's a strange situation we find ourselves in, and not one where we can predict how we will feel, as we've never come across it before. Time will tell! Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #3

Oh my goodness, I love the idea of a lockdown quilt! Each mask leaving a little story on the quilt, oh what a wonderful thing to pass down to future generations. My daughter went back to school on Monday (year 6) but only because she wanted to, we were not keen! I think younger ones would have been more suited, those who's parents are tearing their hair out right now. Everyone's circumstances are different though aren't they and one thing isn't going to suit everyone. SO glad I don't have to work it all out! Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #23

Well done, getting back to work, Lisa. I think it's going to take everyone a bit of time to readjust to life beyond the four walls of home after such a long time in lockdown. I have now been out of the house and garden precisely twice! It felt weird, but wonderful too. I love the cards you have made, especially the second one - the watercolour effect you've achieved with the inked acrylic block is very effective, especially with that lovely stamp.

Thank you for your visit, and glad you like the knitting - don't worry about the "tech" side of it - each to their own! And scarves are very useful!! I put in all the detail partly for those who are interested and partly for my own benefit so I can look back and see what I did. I have been designing my own knitwear for many years now, basically because I didn't like most of the knitting patterns you can buy, and discovering Kaffe Fasset was a revelation to me - he is amazing with his use of colour.

Very wise to keep the kitty in with baby birds in the garden. On the day when ours went mad, we couldn't get them in! Things have certainly ben a lot quieter since the weather changed, and they are happy to snuggle up on the bed all day.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Lisa, I think a lot of people will be finding it hard getting back to what was normal. Your cards are beautiful. I was going to make some masks for us when we fly to Spain in July, but I didn’t have any suitable material and to be honest my sewing skills are not brilliant, so I expect I shall buy some. A belated happy WOYWW Angela #28

I have returned to work too. I worked for our school district and the office staff has returned but not the students. It is strange to be back. But also nice to get out of the house. I love your cards and I’m sure everyone will love them. Have a wonderful week. Dorlene #35

Hi Lisa, I know what you mean by it being hard to get back into things, I've been so comfortable the last few months, and now that I have to go out to get a few things since hubby is now in quarantine (awaiting surgery), it's almost scary! Things are different, line-ups outside the stores, wearing a mask...
Our schools have not come back yet, probably won't until September. I hope they will do some careful planning over the summer! I, thankfully, don't have to go back to work yet.
I love both your cards, both very creative and different from each other! the bunny is such a cute card, and the red one is very creative! Thanks for your visit, stay safe, Lindart #29

Sorry I’m late Lisa. Going back to work must have been a real adjustment, and I understand what you mean about re-entering the world, the more the lockdown is eased, the more I feel I should be staying at home! Still, I suspect that despite the lack of children, you are very busy at school so I hope the days go fast! I LOVe both the cards. It’s great to see how effective the Aall and create stamps can be, in their packets they frighten me!!
