WOYWW 187 & New Year Wishes

A very Happy New Year to all my Crafty friends. I hope your Christmas festivities were very happy ones and Santa brought you all that you wished for and that 2013 has started well.

We had a lovely time with lots of delicious food and drink, generous presents and precious family time. I have done no crafting whatsoever and am now raring to go again. Trouble is the state of my craft room. I feel ashamed to show you but as it's WOYWW then here it is on all is disgraceful glory.

I hope that by the end of today some order will have been restored. We had a big sort out of DD's bedroom yesterday and she inherited the easy chair that had become a dumping ground in my craft room and took up valuable storage space. I had to move lots of things out so we could get it through the narrow doorway and just pushed everything back in last night and closed the door. There are also lovely Christmas presents waiting to find a new home. I think I will take the opportunity to have a big sort out and tidy up.

Before I go and make a start you might remember the oval mirror that was on it's way to becoming my MIL's Christmas present last time I joined in WOYWW and just to round things off here is the end result. She was delighted with it and we had a good laugh when I told her the story.

If you want to start off the New Year in some lovely company then there is no better way than joining in the biggest weekly desk snoop in the World so pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you at a desk near you very soon.

Hi Lisa. I love how the mirror finished...so pretty. I have a feeling you might need to have a good sort out before you can really get too creative in your craft room :-)
A very Happy New Year to you and yours.

I had to tidy up a little this week. It's time to sort through some stuff and get organized again. I always have the best intentions and usually get waylaid along the way. Happy New Year!

That's one busy desk you have there, lol! At least you've got something to tackle in the next week or two!!
I was so glad to hear that your MiL loved the mirror without corners :) she sounds as if she's doing really well after all the upheaval of the move. We are still waiting to hear if dad is going to get a place in the sheltered accommodation, it seems to be taking ages....sigh. Ah we'll, he's doing reasonably ok in the bungalow but fingers crossed, eh?
I really hope we get to meet up sometime this year, it would be lovely to put a face to the name!
Hugs, LLJ 31 xxxx

OOh Lisa, there is some serious tidying needed isn't there!

Happy New Year and glad you had a good Christmas.

My craft room is poised for the first and last ever revamp! I think it's my second bedroom that looks more like your craft room at the moment!

Hi Lisa, your room looks like mine did before I had a clear up yesterday. I hope you've made some progress in sorting out enough space to break out the stash you mention in your comment to me. Love the story of the mirror - you were so lucky to discover your MIL's preference in time. The finished frame is beautiful. Wishing you a happy and healthy year ahead and I look forward to reading more of your posts throughout the year. Hugs, Elizabeth x #54

The mirror looks lovely! I have a friend who crafts at my house every week. She keeps saying she is sorting out her craft room. I think her solution is just to come and make a mess with me in mine!

Love your mirror, seriously tidying up is vastly over-rated.

What a mess Lisa.. it really gave me such a laugh and now I guarantee that, now you have owned up, you will really strive to rectify it for next week. Wanna bet!???
Your frame is so special, really beautiful!
Thanks for your comment and it was hairy scary that it would all happen for the family get together as the little fraulein had been so ill. We only got to know the morning of their flight that the professor had cleared her to come. It was so precious a time. I'm not down to earth yet.
Happy New Year to you and your special ones,
Love Jo x

My craft room is a mess too and I want to get cracking again. So many things I want to try but I've decided to start by using up the Christmas stuff that lies on my desk instead of binning (or losing) it. Will give me a head start for next year if nothing else.
Happy New Year to you and all your family.

Ohhh Lisa the mirror is gorgeous and the colours are so pretty. Pleased to hear you are going to get your watercolours a try and we can support each other! Tidying up really does get in the way of craft so put it off as long as you can.

Happy New Year to you Lisa!

I don’t expect for one minute that craft room is the only one looking like that. Mine became a dumping room too, although I tend to shove stuff in cupboards and drawers to hide it all…….just have to be careful when I open any doors, Lol!

Your MIL’s mirror is just beautiful, I’m not surprised she was thrilled with it.

Happy Crafting!

Hi Lisa - I adore the mirror (the one without any corners) - lovely result.

But OMGosh, don't venture into your craft room without a rope tied round your ankle in case of an avalanche :)

Happy New Year and sorry I'm a bit late commenting for WOYWW. The ironing basket mugged me and demanded to be emptied! Hugs, Di xx #19

Oh Lisa, you have my sympathies trying to tackle that mess, hope you're getting on with it by now? My desk is quite clear but a lot of things got dumped in my room over Christmas, but not by me, by my husband, so I keep reminding him to get it cleared out!! The mirror looks beautiful. Have a good 2013.

That mirror is so pretty, and what a lovely present. My room also became a dumping ground, especially my chair, for some reason. I am beginning to get things away again, but I want to craft not tidy. Good luck with your stash xx Maggie #45

An easy chair out of there...good for you...think of all that real estate you gained.
As they say on the DIY remodeling shows...think upwards...

No wonder your MIL loved her mirror! It's beautiful! I'm even later than you with my new year wishes. I had Izzy staying for a few days after the new year so I'm only just catching up on blogs and I wish you and your family all the very best for 2013 and I hope we all have a somewhat smoother ride, lol!
