Hello lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends. I'm a bit late to the party this week so will be well down the register!! I had a hospital appointment at the crack of dawn, always get these things over is my moto, and after last weeks pink face episode thought I'd better make sure I wasn't going with any part of me multicoloured!!!
So, here's my desk as of last night. After weeks of doing DT work I really needed to do some crafting just for me and after being inspired by the wonderful Michelle Jackson-Mogford I have a scrapbook LO on the go using some gorgeous Basic Grey papers.
It won't include my WOYWW badge, I just wanted to show it off to prove I belong to this wonderful club of Wednesday madness. Thanks so much, Julia. I love your bit of Silly!!
I was sharing the table with my DD last night. Hubby was away with work so I was attempting to help with maths homework, not something I usually get involved with. It's far too hard for my addled brain but we sorted it out eventually. She also had to learn some spellings. Now here's a test for you. Can you spell Archaeology, Claustrophobia, Agoraphobia, Arachnophobia & Xenophobia? These are in her spellings test today for a class of 10 year olds!!! I even had to get her spelling sheet out to type them.
Well, I've shown you mine so let's see yours. Pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE to get involved.
Before I go and start my desk hopping I thought I'd just show you what that blue salty background from last weeks desk turned into.
I added some foil transfers, some silver embossing and chipboard letters that were embossed with purple sparkly wow powder. It formed part of some DT samples and I must admit I was loathed to let it go, I might just have to do another one just for me!!
Time for another cup of coffee while I listen to The Budget to see how much worse off we will be by the end of the day so thanks for stopping by and Happy Desk Hopping.

OMG - turn the radio off girl!! You will be depressed! Hope he never figures out how much we pay for crafting stuff or they will be putting extra tax on that too!
Love piece there and your layout is going to look good with those papers.
The PINK chair is alot more comfy than the old one is! Thanks for the compliment on steampunk as I never really feel I "do" it!!

oh my gosh thats pretty, I've joined as a follower so I won't miss your next project.
I can see why you don't want to let it go - its fabulous! I love the look of the layout too. What work of Michelle's has inspired you? I did a class with her last May and she was great fun! #77
Yay to DD's school for giving them some hard words - it's a challenge but a great feeling when they succeed. I used to do spelling groups as a TA and talk about the origins of words, the kids loved it! Pretty blues in that LOVE artwork, my colour scheme, that is!!
Hugs, LLJ #68 xx
Hi Lisa,
OMG - I can't imagine those words for a 10 year old spelling test!
I like the tattered edges on the layout page. They really add a lot of character to your project.
The card is great, by the way.
Happy WOYWW
Hugs,
Kay

Wow! You can tell that you daughter doesn't go to school in the US. I love your love card. Great background on it and the purple foil really makes it. Judy #134.
My but those were some big spelling words for a 10 year old, but at least all pretty much had the same ending :) Hope she did well on her spelling test! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
I am afraid spelling was never a strong point for me...I have to always have a dictionary on had for the kids.
Lots of great work going on, on your desk - mine is sadly bear at the moment. I have been doing samples for the new Polkadoodles cd but they are off to Nikky and my mojo has fled...lol!
What fab colours and textures on your mixed media piece - gorgeous! Cheers Claire x
Your layout looks wonderful--those papers are so pretty--and your card turned out gorgeous!

Fabulous card Lisa and love all those lovely papers. It is good that you are taking time to do something for yourself. Regards, Anne #66
Wow I love this Lisa. There is so much going on but it all just blends into one gorgeous creation. Love the dimension too, and the colour palette is fab.

Gorgeous card, I can't believe you have achieved so many layers and still made it look to so good.
Hi Lisa - what a shame you did not say Hi or WOWWY to me last week, but next time, please. I don't have much time to talk when we are busy but it is just nice to meet another WOYWW'er now and then.
Love what you turned your salty background into and can understand you not wanting to part with it. Fab!
Those spellings - unbelievable for a 10 year old - what is education coming to? I taught in High School and wonder how many of those pupils could have spelled those - or teachers come to think of it.
Hugs, Neet xx (until next time)
Wow the card is stunning! great effects. The LO in progress is looking good, love the papers you are working with. The Deep is definately worth a trip, if you can catch the feeding time in the main tank it's really good, it was at 2pm when we were there but the staff can tell you the time and the best place to see it, we had a lovely day. x
As an ex-teacher, I always found that young children could spell the apparently difficult words more easily that the more simple common words. As adults, I think we are too often guilty of underestimating just what children can achieve if they are encouraged. That is the age when their minds are like sponges and can absorb far more than we give them credit for. That is such a beautiful card, and thank you for showing us how that background ended up. Thank you also for your visit this week and your lovely comments on our new stamp from Clarity. It is just possible that it may get produced but there is a lot of thinking to be done by my daughter first as it is her work. Have a good week. xx Maggie #5
Your blue card from last week looks amazing! Fantastic background and the silver goes so well with it.
Love the punch on your desk too.
I wish I could say I would have got all the spellings right, but I won't lie to you - lol. Hope you DD did ok with them though x
Thanks for already visiting my desk this week

Lovely work fabulous card !
Thanks for passing by
Have a happy week x
Gorgeous work, Lisa - such wonderful colours. LOVE it! I am all for extending vocabulary, but only if it is going to be useful. Tell you lovely daughter to not worry too much. Looking at those spellings it looks like the teacher is finding it hard to challenge her!
I can spel them, but only by writing them down and doubting myself! Wow, tough learning!
Hey, your LOVE piece is a master, turned out gorgeously...now you'll have to start doing two of everything!
#141 I'm still making my way 'round last Wednesday's WOYWW ... Your art is wonderful! As for the spelling words-gee, do 10-year-olds really need to know those phobias even exist, let alone know how to spell them??! IMHO
Those cards at the end of your post are just great. That salt look is so interesting.
