WOYWW

Afternoon folks. How's your Wednesday going? Today is the day I volunteer at my Daughter's school and I cut out 36 cardboard spectacles this morning ready for them to be decorated, including the holes where the lenses go. To say my fingers are sore now is an understatement so only gentle crafting for me tonight!

This might go to explain what is on my workdesk today. Here it is in it's full glory for WOYWW. If you haven't shared your desk yet where have you been. Pop over to Julia's and join in with the ever growing phenomenon which is WOYWW. You're bound to meet some great people and find some totally inspirational blogs.

I sell a few cards in my hairdresser's shop, which is how I fund my crafty habit and over the months I've discovered that the cards that sell really well are pretty decoupage with ribbons and bows. My lovingly stamped and coloured ones tend to be much slower to go. It's quite nice though to craft without too much thought, it's quite therapeutic and here you can see a really pretty Hunkydory die cut decoupage kit in progress. I have mounted them on a Marianne D die I had for my birthday. It's quite big and the perfect size for these.

Here's one of the finished cards

Just to remind me of "proper" crafting I have a beautiful card on my desk sent to me by my lovely blogging buddy Sally.

Thanks for stopping by and I will do my best to get round as many desk as I can this week although I may still be visiting next Tuesday, there are so many nowadays so bear with me.

Blimey, your poor hands after all that cutting! Maybe your daughter will treat you to a nice hand massage and lots of soothing handcream? :-)

It's funny isn't it, the cards some people prefer? I've sold some that I wasn't massively keen on yet others that I prefer haven't always sold as well. I guess there's nowt as queer as folk!

Have you had howling gales over your way today? It's been crazy here, wind battering the house, rain drumming on the windows. Please come back sunshine!

Your desk always looks interesting Lisa! At the moment mine is full of punches that I am taking to another Retreat (yes another one!) this weekend. Thought everyone might like to have a go with them. Oh yes and my DT card for Just Tracys!

Hope you are ok and that Freya is still creating beautiful things! Jill x

Your hands may be sore but I bet you got loads of satisfaction seeing the kids decorating their spectacles. That's a very pretty card and I too love that Marianne Die but I can never get the embossed bit right.

Thanks for your comments on Warren too - I was pleased how the image sat on the card candy so please use that idea if you can - it's nice to know there's some inspiration getting out lol.

Love Lynda xxx

Such beautiful cards Lisa. Its a pity your coloured ones do not sell as well too as all your cards are lovely. Great that you have a bit of an income coming in from your hobby though. Such a bonus! Have a great week xo

We definitely need a pic of those specs!
Re the cards, there is no accounting for taste. It was the same when I did silversmithing and often things didn't sell then I'd go somewhere else and the same items flew out.
Really lovely cards there with such detail.
Love Jo x
Thanks so much for your thoughts too, we're coming to terms with things here though it's hard.

I know just how you feel - I have ended up with a pain in my thumb from too much cutting I think! It's just as well we all have different tastes isn't it. Your card is really pretty but your stamping is very you! Cheers Claire x

Oh Lisa, those decoupage cards are just beautiful so I can see why they sell well.
I’ve never used Hunkydory myself but I did see them on TV the other day and came very close to buying a kit but I resisted the temptation.

Happy Crafting!

Agree that peoples aste often seems odd! By the way, if you often have to cut out a lot of things like that, try the Fiskars( I think) shear scissors. My DIL used to do a lot of this for her kids school crafting, and I suggested them to her- she said it made it much less painful! They have a nice sharp point to for fiddly stuff. Shaz #118

Those are pretty cards. I have just been reading your profile and find that you live in one of my favourite parts of the country, having spent 3 years up at Bingley College, many moons ago. And how talented are you, designing for people like Sheena Douglas.

36 pairs of spectacles - wow that is some task. hope the project went well for the children. Would love to see some pictures (if they are allowed).
Lovely card you have made and those look interesting on your desk. I can vouch for what you say - people do seem to prefer non stamped cards when you are selling.
If you go to Harrogate show do pop over and say hello - I'll be dem'ing the dies on Oyster Stamps.

That's a lot of cutting my dear. Your card looks awesome. Takes me a few days to get around to all the desks too but it's still worth every peek.

I hope all the children liked decorating the spectacles you so lovingly cut. Mothers do the most wonderful things for their babies! I agree with who ever said you can't tell what people will like enough to buy. Hope your sales are going well! Lovely desk, lovely cards!

I can just imagine how sore your hands were after cutting out all those 'glasses' - hope you didn't cut out the decoupage as well. The card is very pretty - I can see why it's popular :) Love the card from Sally. Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving such nice comments. Hugs, Elizabeth x #97
