WOYWW 151

Hello lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends. Here we are at Wednesday again which can only mean one thing. It's time for some desk nosiness. This is my first post on the new fangled Blogger so I hope I've got it right, it's taking me some time to find my way around, I don't know about you but it all seems a bit confusing at the minute.

I thought I'd show you the other side of my desk this week. I'm in the middle of making some Flower Fairy cards that were printed from a CD. DH brought home a new wireless printer some time ago as our old one had a bit of a mind of it's own. I had several inks to use up for it and so printed off loads of photos and paper and images which was a rare treat as I'm normally quite careful with the amount of ink I use.

You might also be able to spot my guilty pleasure, the bag of Sour chewy sweets, which I love. There is one glaring omission though, the ever present mug of something. I need to put that right straight away!!!!

WOYWW 150

Morning lovely Crafters and WOYWW friends. I have been absent from the role call for the last couple of weeks due to the Easter Hols. We didn't go anywhere but I had the luxury of everyone being at home, which was a lovely surprise as Hubby was due to be away both weeks but his trips were cancelled. It's a wonder you couldn't hear me cheering from your house!!! Anyway, I decided to have a little break from blogging as well so that we could spend some quality time together, so bear with me while I try to catch up with all I've missed.

It's great to be back among the world of WOYWW. If you haven't discovered it yet, then pop over to see the Desk Headmistress, Julia, HERE, but beware, it's highly addictive. My desk today is my usual mess. I realised that my trays at the end are almost as messy as my greenhouse shelves with all sorts of things balanced precariously!!!

There's definitely plenty of work in progress. I needed some quick cards to restock my supplies and have discovered that if I put my mind to it I can be quite productive these days. This is the card that's on the desk using one of my favourite stamps from Impression Obssession and Stormy Sky Distress ink and not much else.

Bearing in mind Julia's missive to be brief I thought I'd just leave you with a glimpse of the gorgeous tulips we've been enjoying in the garden. I didn't replant any last Autumn and thought there wouldn't be so many this year but they have proved me wrong and been brilliant. I do so love the Spring.

WOYWW 147-Oh Happy Days

Morning everyone. Aren't we a lucky lot then here in the UK basking in this glorious weather. I love the sunshine, it just makes you feel happy and even happier when it's WOYWW, the best day of the week.

I shall do my best to follow orders and be brief. No craft desk from me this week, ohhh no. I've spent every spare moment outside so hang the housework and the crafting, my workdesk has been in my greenhouse and at the garden table with a book so that's what I'm sharing with you.

As you can see the greenhouse is extremely untidy, it's a case of cram as much in as you can. We don't have the luxury of a garage so it's home to all sorts of things as well as plants. I have lots of baby seedlings popping through as well as all the overwintered plants.

As I mentioned in my last post, we are over run with ladybirds at the minute, I've never seen so many and here's one snoozing in the sun very early this morning.

And just to wave you off with a smile as you continue desk hopping this lovely Wednesday, our little Almond tree burst into blossom yesterday. The blue sky makes it look a picture.

WOYWW 146

Hello lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends. I'm a bit late to the party this week so will be well down the register!! I had a hospital appointment at the crack of dawn, always get these things over is my moto, and after last weeks pink face episode thought I'd better make sure I wasn't going with any part of me multicoloured!!!

So, here's my desk as of last night. After weeks of doing DT work I really needed to do some crafting just for me and after being inspired by the wonderful Michelle Jackson-Mogford I have a scrapbook LO on the go using some gorgeous Basic Grey papers.

It won't include my WOYWW badge, I just wanted to show it off to prove I belong to this wonderful club of Wednesday madness. Thanks so much, Julia. I love your bit of Silly!!

I was sharing the table with my DD last night. Hubby was away with work so I was attempting to help with maths homework, not something I usually get involved with. It's far too hard for my addled brain but we sorted it out eventually. She also had to learn some spellings. Now here's a test for you. Can you spell Archaeology, Claustrophobia, Agoraphobia, Arachnophobia & Xenophobia? These are in her spellings test today for a class of 10 year olds!!! I even had to get her spelling sheet out to type them.

Before I go and start my desk hopping I thought I'd just show you what that blue salty background from last weeks desk turned into.

I added some foil transfers, some silver embossing and chipboard letters that were embossed with purple sparkly wow powder. It formed part of some DT samples and I must admit I was loathed to let it go, I might just have to do another one just for me!!

WOYWW 145 & A Pink Face

Morning lovely crafters and WOYWW friends. Wednesday again and time for a good old snoop round every one's desks.

Here's mine of about 5 minutes ago. I'm at the dining room table again as I need lots of space this week. I'm in the middle of a spraying frenzy for some DT work so no ones allowed to use the table at the minute. Hubby is highly delighted as that means tea on his knee watching Eggheads. It doesn't take much to keep him amused!!

These sprays should carry a health warning I think though. Yesterday I was merrily using a bright pink one and had forgotten to put my rubber gloves on and my hands got absolutely covered. I went and gave them a good scrub but the pink remained. Well never mind, every crafter has messy hands, thought I. It wasn't until I'd eaten my lunch and gone upstairs glancing in a mirror on my way that I saw that no only were my hands a lovely shade of Fuchsia pink, so was my face and my jumper!!! Good job no one had come to the door!!!

Today I've been using lovely blues but am suitable protected in every way. Here's one of the lovely backgrounds that you get when you add salt to the sprayed paper. This has to be my favourite technique at the minute.

Just to cheer you up if you haven't got the sunshine we were faithfully promised at the weekend but now seems to have disappeared into mist I thought I'd share with you this little beauty. My MIL gave me a pot with some leaves in last year and said it was an Orchid she'd been given but had now gone over. I've never grown Orchids before but someone said to put it in the bathroom which is what I did. It sat looking forlorn on the window ledge for a few months and then just before Christmas a stem appeared and then these beautiful flowers. It's only tiny but has now been flowering for about 4 months and it's certainly a cheerful sight to greet you every morning.

WOYWW 144

Morning lovely crafters and dear WOYWW friends. I had to absent myself last week from the Workdesk loveliness due to real life just getting in the way, so much so that I knew I wouldn't have the time to visit many desks and I really missed being part of the gang. So I'm back in class this week and raring to go.

Here is my desk as of last night. I apologise for the poor photo, the glare from my glass mat and all those plastic bags played havoc!!! I'm fed up being so disorganised and Di has really shamed me into getting my stamps into some sort of order. I don't quite have her skill at making them look so professional but at least they are now all in a ring binder on laminated sheets where I can lay my hands on them straight away.

As you can see I don't even organise in a very tidy way, there is stuff everywhere and this morning I found a tiny flower stamp floating around my desk and I have absolutely no idea where it belongs!!

I have stuck all my H20 paints onto old CD's, a tip Sheena shared on one of her programmes, and it felt very daring throwing all the lids away but I have to admit having them like this makes them so much easier to use. I don't have a spindle to stack the CD's on yet but have added that to Hubby's to do list!!

Before I start checking out everyone else's desk I thought I'd just share another sample I made for Sheena's recent shows.

I have to thank the talented Barbara Gray and her pattern building for the inspiration for this one. I tried stamping just the corner from the Happiness stamp set inked with H20's and this was the result.

I used the same corner but inked with very watery paint and randomly stamped for the background and a glass bead I found at my local garden centre coloured with a promarker for the centre.

Well, it looks like it's going to be a day of April Showers here in Yorkshire so I'm off to get a cup of coffee and have a look at everyone else's desks so enjoy the rest of your Wednesday and thanks for stopping by.

Afternoon lovely crafters and dear WOYWW friends. I'm late again this week. No excuses this time because the weather is awful, but I'm very good at spending hours doing very little and then wondering where the day has gone.

Here's my desk today. I'm in the middle of some makes for my little basket where I sell my cards. It's being going great guns lately and I'm having trouble keeping up with demand, which is a lovely problem to have I have to admit.

I thought I'd show you the miserable weather I've been looking out on here in Yorkshire today so it's made my desk a little dark, sorry about that. As you can see I'm back in my craft room today. Bet you get dizzy with all this running around I do. I get on quicker in there as everything is to hand so tend to be more productive.

I was very lucky to win Kezzy's generous blog candy last week. thanks so muck Kezzy I love it all, there are some fantastic things that I shall get a lot of pleasure from using. She also enclosed a lovely card which you might be able to spot on my desk. It's under my nose so that I can keep admiring it.

It was half term here last week and as DD was still recuperating from her recent Chicken Pox we managed to do some crafting together which was nice. It was my Best Friend's birthday last weekend so we made her some special cards.

Mine was inspired by a card I saw on my WOYWW travels last week on Zoe's lovely Blog. I've had this Stamp from Sheena for ages uninked so it was high time to use it. I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea, Zoe. I was really pleased with the end result and will try it with other flowers now.

DD used her new Gorjuss girl stamp and coloured her with my new flexmarkers. I think I have competition here, don't you?

My friend loved her cards so it was an afternoon well spent.

WOYWW 141

Afternoon lovely Crafters and WOYWW friends and hello and welcome to all my new followers. I couldn't believe how many of you there were after WOYWW last week. Wednesday is definitely my favourite day of the week nowadays. It's always brilliant to make new friends and discover lots of new work spaces to rummage about on. I'm late this week as the sun has been shining so we've been out in the garden this morning. DD is much better now (thank you so much for all your good wishes) although still a bit spotty but I promised her some sunshine and fresh air would do her good as I was desperate to get out in the garden after being stuck indoors for weeks!!!!

Here is my desk as I left it last night. I'm in the middle of altering a plaque I got for my birthday with pegs and hooks on for displaying things. It was originally a dirty pink colour with plastic cup cakes, not really my thing so I've been doing a bit of a painting and stamping and just need to finish making some paper flowers and I'm done. I'll share it with you when it's finished.

You might also be able to spot my Valentines choccies.... unopened!!!! I'm being a good girl although not sure for how long!! They are sitting there looking very tempting.

Now that the garden is looking a bit tidier I can see the lovely snowdrops that have sprung up everywhere although my crocuses seem to have disappeared. I must have dug them up over the years so will need to make sure I replant lots in the Autumn. Here's one that has survived though.

WOYWW 140 and some new Fusion Flowers

Morning lovely Crafters and dear WOYWW friends.

I really look forward to Wednesdays when we all catch up with each others desks. It never fails to cheer me up and I always find something unexpected or a new friend every week. There are not many places you can go that will do that is there? If you haven't joined in yet pop over to see our esteemed Deskmistress, Julia, HERE.

Just before I show you my not very interesting desk this week can I just say thank you for all the lovely comments on the card I showed you last week. You were all so lovely and Patsy from HeARTworks asked how the white flowers were done. Just to clear that up, they were clear embossed before any ink was added and then buffed up to remove any residual ink at the end. It's a lovely technique and one I shall definitely be playing with again.

Well, here is my desk today. Nothing happening I'm afraid due to my spotty dotty daughter in the corner who has been really miserable with chicken pox this week and also very fed up that she missed all the snow at the weekend after waiting for months for it to arrive. We had more tears over that I think than her itchy spots!!

You might be able to spot some of my lovely Birthday presents that I haven't really had time to play with yet. Hubby bought me some flexmarkers, I was really impressed. He didn't ask me what I wanted but chose those all by himself. I have him well trained. He also bought me a gorgeous wallet to store all my dies in.The rest is stuff waiting to find a home, a tissue box waiting to be turned into something interesting, DD's toothbrush being charged and a new CD waiting to be listened too.

If you've just popped over for WOYWW I won't be offended if you leave now without reading any further. I was going to do a separate post to show you some new Paint Fusion flowers I have been working on but, call me lazy, I'm just going to tag them on here.

Sheena Douglass is releasing three new paint fusion flower stamps as Pick Of The Week on Friday 10th Feb on Create and Craft and they are beautiful. As a flower lover I'm in my element when we get these to work on although I only had two days to do my samples this time so there are not many to show you yet.

The first set is a lilac and is so easy to paint. I promise you I am no master with a brush but these are a doddle.

Morning lovely Crafters and WOYWW friends. As you can see by my desk this week, it's chilly here so I'm back downstairs making a mess on the dining table. I thought I'd better just reassure you that we we do have a table cloth for best. The blue one that you can see gets very inky and glittery and although the family are happy to eat in my mess I wouldn't expect visitors to do the same!!

I've been having an inky playtime inspired by a demo by Deby from Inkylicious on the TV at the weekend. I've had these wildflower stamps from Chocolate Baroque for years now and they are still among my favourites. I've been trying various colour schemes using brown distress inks as the base and then adding some colour with bright Adirondacks.

Don't you find it's so nice to just craft for the sake of it once in awhile. I love getting messy and can loose hours.

You might just be able to spy the new copy of Craft Stamper hiding amongst my mess where our esteemed WOYWW leader has got her name in lights, about time too!!!!! Well done, Julia, it's great to see you in print. Why not pop over to Congratulate her and join in with all this desk hopping.

Afternoon lovely Crafters and WOYWW friends. I hope I find you well this Wednesday.

My desk today is back in my Craft Room. You may well wonder why it changes from week to week. Well, as most Crafters I know, I take over most of the house when I'm crafting and sometimes if it's really cold I craft at the dining table and then when it's sunny I prefer my Craft Room as it gets all the afternoon sunshine. Today has been a sunny day, or partly, so you find me in my lovely room surrounded by all my stash.

It's been a colouring day. I treated myself last week to the new Polkadoodles Pretty Sweet CD which is full of cute girls. It seemed a better option and than buying lots of stamps and my daughter loves them too so we can print off the Digistamps and colour them to our hearts content. I'm not generally a cutie type of person but there are times when you just need them!!

This is the first card I've made and I was especially pleased with the punched flowers after being inspired by the very talented Jules who makes these all the time.

I was desperate to see them on Monday when it was clear but my Hubby very kindly pointed out that I needed to look North after I kept saying I couldn't see anything out on the window. We face East-West!!!!! I had to go and stand in the garden but still didn't see anything.

Morning dear crafters and lovely WOYWW friends. I'm not going to trot out the usual "hasn't the week gone quick" as we all know it has and it's far more interesting just to get onto desk stuff. I've spent the last few weeks indulging in my first love of scrapbooking. The creative juices have been a bit sludgy and each layout has taken me days, I must be the slowest scrapper in the world, still I'm enjoying myself and that's what it's all about isn't it?

On the work in progress on my desk I've had a go at creating my own paper with paints and inks. I've been enjoying the new Scrapbook Magazine Scrap 365 and being from the Craft Stamper stable there are always interesting articles about getting messy, which inspired me to do just that with this one. I've been trying to find some papers to match and am just at the stage of cutting them up and seeing where it all goes!!

So that's me this week, it's been a funny old week, I hope the next one is a bit better, but for now I'm going to get a cup of tea and enjoy seeing what everyone else has been up too.

Well, here we are at Wednesday and time to share those workdesks again. I thought that with a new year the weeks might slow down a bit, no chance of that, I only seem to have blinked and Wednesday is here again. Although it seems more like March than January. Isn't it mild? I had a look at the garden yesterday and there are crocuses out, roses from last year and a red Salvia that has flowered continuously since last June!! These poor plants will be so confused if we actually get any temperatures that look more like Winter.

Anyway, I digress, here is my desk today.


I come into the showing off category this week!!!! Santa brought me a glass mat and I love it, no more swapping mats around to do different things. I catch up with you all eventually, I know Julia has been shouting glass mat praises for months!! I've been making cards with one of the gorgeous Polkadoodles CD's on it. Lots of cutting out involved but it's been quite therapeutic to sit quietly and snip away listening to the radio.

Well they danced around our cake happily and now that the cake has all been eaten, yes we are cakeaholics in this house, they have been safely put away for next year. As you can see my writing piping needs some practise although the piping round the bottom was done by my 10 year old daughter!!

WOYWW 135-A mess....Nothing New ThereThen!!

The first WOYWW of 2012 and a very Happy New Year to you all. I'm sorry I was missing in action last week, I completely forgot it was Wednesday until someone mentioned it about 10pm and by then it was far too late to post my desk, not that there was anything on it other than a pile of ironing that didn't get done before Christmas and you wouldn't have been interested in that I know!!

Normal service has been resumed this week though and here is my desk as of 9.30am this morning.


I'm in full card making mode to restock my supplies before other things crop up and my beloved Cuttlebug is getting a good work out. I've been looking out at driving rain all day so it's been prefect to be cocooned with the radio on.

WOYWW 133 Christmas Has Arrived

Afternoon lovely Crafty Friends and WOYWWers. It's time for a last nosey at all your desks before the big day arrives and on the Winter Solstice too. If you have just come out of hibernation and have missed all this WOYWW fun then get yourself over to our DeskMistress Julia, HERE and join in all the fun. It's addictive.

I love this week full of preparation and expectation, it's my favourite time. Lots of cooking and wrapping with Christmas songs on the radio and of course food shopping, not looking forward to that bit.


Here's my desk today with those last minute pressies still being made. I can't tell you who the box is for but I can tell you it started life as a persil tablet box!! I've got some lovely goodies to put inside.


I was lucky enough to be the very happy recipient of some of Lunch Lady Jan's Christmas bunting and here it is gracing my Craft Room. I can't get in there to craft at the minute, it seems to have been taken over by Santa!! but I love seeing the bunting hanging there.


And this last photo is for Jozarty. She asked what our favourite traditions are and one of ours is putting all the baubles we have collected and made over the years on the tree. A lot of them are handmade by both Grandma and DD and they all find a space. We also buy a new decoration each every year so as you can see it's very full but I absolutely love seeing it twinkling in the corner and especially love how the lights shine on the wall behind. Magic!!

I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a very Peaceful and Healthy New Year and special wishes to Julia, the lady who brings us altogether on a Wednesday and who we have to thank for many new friendships.

WOYWW 132 & Something To Make You Think

Morning lovely Bloggers. I hope I find you well this Wednesday morning and if not I send you wishes for a speedy recovery. Here we are with one more week of workdesks before the big day, can you believe it? I have to admit that now the decorations are up I'm feeling more festive but it still seems like 5 minutes since the Summer holidays!!

I can't wait to see what the rest of you are up to in WOYWW land this week, what's the betting that most desks are full of Christmas preparation? Mine certainly is.


I'm still in Christmas card mode although there are some finished ones now and one has actually been delivered, yes, I know...amazing. My goal is to finish them today, write these and the bought ones and post them tomorrow, well, that's the plan anyway.

I recently came across this little gem and have been meaning to share it with you so as we are approaching a time of year when we tend to end up running around and getting stressed I thought today was the perfect moment. I know time is precious and you don't want to read reams of typing but please do, it's well worth it.

When things in your life seem too much to handle, when 24 hours in the day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.....

A professor stood before his philosophy class with some items in front of him.

He wordlessly picked up a very large, empty mayonnaise jar and filled it with golf balls before asking his class if it was full. They agreed it was.

He then picked up some pebbles and poured them into the jar, shaking it so that they rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar which of course filled up all the remaining spaces. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students all agreed it was now definitely full.

The professor then produced two cups of coffee and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now", said the Professor "I want you to recognise that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things, your health, your family, your children, your friends and your favourite passions, things that if everything else is lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else, the small stuff.

If you put the sand in the jar first there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children, take time for health checkups, take your partner out to dinner, play 18 holes. There will always be time to clean the house and mend the shed roof.

Set your priorities. Take care of the golf balls first, the rest is just sand."

"But what about the coffee?" One of the students asked.

The Professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked that. It just goes to show that how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee."

Morning everyone. Another Wednesday closer to Christmas. I think I need to hide in a dark corner for a while and calm down. The weeks are just flying by in a blur and I don't feel at all ready for the big day. How are all your preparations going? I bet you are all organised.

Another WOYWW and today there is no crafting happening yet....... Christmas cards HAVE to be made later, or at least the important ones. I think I may have to resort to bought ones for those distant relations that have no idea I craft!!


Instead, there is cake make happening, or rather there was at 9.15am when I took this photo. The cake is now out of the oven and smelling delicious. It's just a plain sponge but I make one every year for the Husband of a good friend who sells my cards in her shop as a thank you. It's his birthday on Saturday so that gives me tomorrow to decorate it.

I must also share with you this exciting parcel that arrived this morning from the lovely ladies at the Just Traceys challenge. I was thrilled to win their recent sketch challenge with the LO of my dear Hubby enjoying the sunshine.

Just to prove that I have been busy creating and not just sitting with my feet up thinking about Christmas cards instead of making them, here's one of the cards I made for yet another up coming show on Create and Craft with Sheena this Friday. This time she asked us to play with the new Twinkling H20's and I've had a great time with them. I've had some of the old ones for years and used them to colour the odd butterfly and that was about all but to think about using them in different ways has been exciting. The new colours are beautiful. I think they will quickly become a firm favourite.

I just clear embossed the tree, the beautiful colours didn't really need anything else.

For those lovely WOYWWer's who asked for the Christmas Pud recipe from last week, I'm going to do a separate post after this one so that I don't bore the rest of you to death with miles of typing to read.

WOYWW 130 and the biggest Christmas Pud in the World.

Morning lovely Bloggers. Here we are at Wednesday again when it's time to share all those delicious workdesks that can be found all over the world on What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. Here is my mess of a desk today. It's early, hence the lights but as you can see the all important mug of tea has pride of place, next to that cup of peasoup looking liquid which is actually my paint water. Yes, I have nearly mixed them up before you ask!!!


I'm busy getting things done for the School Fayre on Saturday, why do I always decide it's a good idea to try and get another hundred things made three days before the Fayre? I really don't know why I give myself the extra pressure, but my paint fusion wall hangers have been selling like hot cakes lately so I wanted to get some more made before Saturday.


I thought I'd also share the finished Christmas Pud we made last Sunday. My Hubby says it's the biggest pudding he's ever seen. It is a much lighter pud than the traditional one, having no suet but lots of fruit like Apricots and pineapple instead. I also cooked it in the microwave. It only took 20 minutes compared with 6 hours in a steamer. No contest really. We've now cut it into three and put it in the freezer. I think it might well be christened before we get to the big day so I'll let you know how it tastes. It certainly smells good.

Lastly, just to answer so many of your questions last week, this little beauty is a Lantana. This was one of my cossetted plants in full flower in the greenhouse in the Summer.


It was really interesting to learn from my Australian friends that this plant is treated as an invasive weed there. The things we learn on a Wednesday!!
