WOYWW 568

Morning gentle deskers. I hope I find you well and happy this beautiful Wednesday morning. Here we are going through week 5 of staying home and staying safe and I have to say, thanks to the amazing weather, I'm quite enjoying it now. As long as I can get in the garden and feel some sunshine I'm a happy bunny. I think a lot of this has to do with the awfully stressful 6 months I had previous to lockdown and to have the outside world removed for awhile is what I needed.

Anyway, here's my desk today.

I've been doing some scrapbooking, something I love to do and don't always find the time normally. This is my second page in a week of our trip to London last year for DD's 18th birthday.

I've still been taking photos during the week of things we have been doing to put in my lockdown journal.

We planted some lettuce, pea and carrot seeds. I even managed to persuade DD to leave her tablet for an afternoon to help.

I made a Simnel cake for Easter, For once I was organsied and had bought marzipan weeks ago.

And these Thalia daffodils came from my Mum's balcony and have been flowering for weeks. They are beautiful and I remember her every time I look at them.

Well, that's me this week. If you want to share your desk with a group of lovely people then pop over to see Julia at WOYWW.

Happy Crafting and Stay Safe

I don't think we should feel guilty about enjoying this enforced period of quiet...it's become the norm to be busy and I'm relishing not feeling I have to fill every waking hour. Having said that, I am really missing my band. Lovely to see Freya helping with the garden, which reminds me, I must go and water my veg beds!

Hello Lisa and it is always lovely to see that you have visited the blog. Great minds think alike and garden at the same time. My husband retired at the beginning of 2020 and for the first time he is actually interested in helping me garden. He plans to grow mushrooms .... so that will be interesting. Our tomatoes are coming along beautifully with a tendency to go wild. Radish and rocket seedlings have all shot up and my 4 little cauliflowers look very happy. Once there is some progress I will definitely post a photo. Lovely that you got your DD out to help and I have to say the LO is gorgeous. Always lovely to have those special times remembered. Stay safe and I always think of you when I am having my Yorkshire tea.:)

I have been scrapbooking too. I am so jealous. It isn't quite warm enough for real gardening here. I won't start my seeds until next month so they won't get too leggy. I love the photos of the flowers and cake. That is so pretty. I could not make something so gorgeous. Whenever I decorate cakes it looks like a 5-year old made it. Stay well and enjoy the outdoors. It's food for the soul!

I love Thalia, one of my favourite Daffodils. My mum grew and sold miniature daffodils for over 40 years, showing at all the RHS flower shows including Chelsea so the specialist daffodils always take me back to my childhood - seeing them is one of the reasons that spring is my favourite time of the year. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and take care. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#25)

Hi Lisa. What a beautiful post. I'm so glad you are enjoying the slower pace - and having time! It's something so many say they don't have enough of, isn't it? And now they have it in spades! I agree - just being out in the garden, all is quiet, just listening to the waterfall over the pond and hearing the birds singing - bliss! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

I love the layout, you used beautiful papers for it. I have to admit to rather enjoying a lot of aspects of the lock down but like you I'm very lucky and can get out into the garden. I love the Thalia daffodils, they are so pretty.
Hope you have a good week and stay safe and well,

I think many of us are appreciating this little breathing space, though I understand for many it is horrible and lonely. I am so grateful for my little patch of heaven and although I am in London sometimes its easy to imagine we are somewhere much more rural!! Great layout and good to see DD helping out. Some of my best memories of this time will be my son helping his dad in the garden. Stay Safe, Stay well, Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

Pleased to see you keeping busy. I agree the peaceful change to a busy lifestyle is actually a nice change though we have had a few family problems. Your desk looks busy and the cake looks very tasty. Wishing you a happy and creative woyww, Angela x17x

First well done on getting DD to leave the tablet to get in the garden - we have had less success with our lot here. Sleep, TV and X -box are much more tempting. I keep trying! I am still waiting for seeds I ordered about a month ago to arrive. I think quite a few of us needed to slow down although it has taken a bit to get used to for some. I could happily retire now. I have been making cards and mini books but I do have planner pages and scrap booking planned to do at some point too. Sorry I am late visiting this week . Take care and keep safe . soojay #16

Those Thalias are the most beautiful to me, of all the daffodils and I love that they make you think of your Mum, it’s a great comfort isn’t it, having something of hers near you. I have Mum’s wooden spoons in daily use and would probably kill to protect their space in my kitchen!! Your scrapbook page looks wonderful, I do love a layer or two. Ilike too that you have ink pads to hand, I’m missing that in my current location, but there’s a limit to how much I can drag into the lounge on a semi permanent basis before OH puts up his palm and says enough. Well I think there is! The weather has been marvellous and actually made this strange lockdown a good period of recovery for many, I I hope that the crazy busy rush rush rush will not come back immediately! Keep well Lisa!

So glad you've had the chance to enjoy the sunshine in the garden, Lisa, and have got a helper with the plants! We, too, have been enjoying having lunch in the garden under our umbrella, but it's got colder again now so only the kitties have been enjoying it quite so much! The white daffodil is so beautiful, and what a lovely memory of your mum. Whenever I see the primroses I think of my mum - I always used to give her a posy of primroses for Mothering Sunday, ever since I was small, and she always loved them. Your Simnel cake looks yummy indeed!!

Happy belated WOYWW,
