WOYWW 356

Afternoon lovely WOYWW friends. It's been so long since I've been able to join you. What a start to the year we've had. My Mum fell and broke her wrist on New Years Day so I looked after her for the first 6 weeks of 2016. Then the week after she had her pot taken off I was back at The Fracture Clinic with my dear Hubby who jumped out of an HGV and ruptured his achilles tendon. He's been at home for the last 7 weeks and has just gone back to work today so I'm taking this opportunity to catch up with all my desk buddies. Not a lot of crafting has occurred but here's my desk this morning.



Not much to show really. I grabbed a few hours over the Easter weekend to create a little canvas having a go with image transfer, something I've wanted to play with for ages. It wasn't a total success but I was quite pleased with the end result after a bit of patching up. The stencil and heat gun are what I was using.

Here's the finished project.



I also tried a bit of quilling after seeing some gorgeous things on Pinterest and made this for my Mum In Law for Mother's Day. I have one half finished for my own Mum too. It takes much longer than I expected so her's will be for her birthday in July!!



Well, that's me today. I hope to be able to join in the desk round regularly now, fingers crossed so I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone.

    Hi Lisa, I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were doing and it seems you've had quite a time of it - two invalids to keep you busy! Hope that's life back to normal now. I've been wanting to try the image transfer technique for a long time too but never seem to find the time somehow.     I'm sorry to hear your New Year has started so badly. What a bummer I hope your hubby is better now. It's not a nice injury to have.
    Image Transfer is on my list of things I'd like to do. (So watch this space). Your Chaplin looks great.

    Oh, Lisa. What a lot you have had to be doing since the new year. I do trust both the patients are now recovered, and feeling more like themselves! That quilled picture is beautiful -well done. It does take time - I know 'cos I've tried it. The canvas with Chaplin on it is great. Well done.

    What a time you've been having. I really hope there are no more incidents in the near future and all are well on the road to recovery now. It's good to see you back joining in the Wednesday fun again. I really love the canvas and the quilling pic....would go nicely on my wall :-)

    Oh blimey, girl, you have been having a right old time of it. I feel so sorry for your hubby, ruptured Achilles' tendons are agony....I sincerely hope that you have a quieter second quarter of the year!
    You always do such beautiful crafts, but I do really adore that quilled letter A in the frame, that is so elegant. I love th colours, everything about it. Clever lass...I don't think I have sufficient patience to do that 😃

    Sorry your family has been ill . My Hubby did something similar a few years ago - takes forever to heal and I still keep telling him not to jump out of his lorry!! Men!     You have had a busy and difficult yer so far, good grief.I hope both patients are well now, or at least over the worst. Your Mum must have been driven mad by having to have help with everything.....I hate it! Bad patient! Surprised that you've managed any time at your desk at all, but the canvas is overly - the image transfer worked a treat!

    Beautiful Charlie Chaplin canvas. I love the purples. They go fantastic with the image.

    Well, wondered where you were, not the right weather for gardening so it couldn't be that.
    Hope all are fully recovered now and that you have had a lovely Easter.
    Two fabulous projects, both using gorgeous colours.
    I tried quilling once, well at least I tried, there won't be a second time though.

    Love the Chaplin canvas! Image transfers can be tricky, but an incomplete transfer can add to the appeal! Sorry to hear about your mum's and hubby's accidents so close together, with you taking the brunt of it! Hopefully, everything is back to normal now. Happy arting!     You're definitely not out of practice, that canvas is gorgeous. So is the quilling, I bought some paper and a tool a while back but haven't attempted it yet. Happy WOYWW Vicky#8

    Well, they do say if it isn't one thing it is another... you certainly have it coming and going. I ruptured my Achilles tendon. It took over a year to quit being pesky after the surgery to put it back together. Both your projects are very cool. I really like the Charlie Chaplin canvas but that quilling is quite stunning as well. Thanks for the visit earlier today. PJ #54

    Hi Lisa, sounds like your family have had a rough time. Lucky they have you to care for them :) Lovely projects on your desk and I must admit I would not have the patience for the beautiful paper projects. I haven't done woyww for a couple of weeks as I am busy at work and come home and relax by painting. Hope the rest of the coming months are injury free. Have a lovely week.
