WOYWW 136

Well, here we are at Wednesday and time to share those workdesks again. I thought that with a new year the weeks might slow down a bit, no chance of that, I only seem to have blinked and Wednesday is here again. Although it seems more like March than January. Isn't it mild? I had a look at the garden yesterday and there are crocuses out, roses from last year and a red Salvia that has flowered continuously since last June!! These poor plants will be so confused if we actually get any temperatures that look more like Winter.

Anyway, I digress, here is my desk today.

I come into the showing off category this week!!!! Santa brought me a glass mat and I love it, no more swapping mats around to do different things. I catch up with you all eventually, I know Julia has been shouting glass mat praises for months!! I've been making cards with one of the gorgeous Polkadoodles CD's on it. Lots of cutting out involved but it's been quite therapeutic to sit quietly and snip away listening to the radio.
Here's one of the cards I've made.

If you want to join in with all this What's On your Workdesk Wednesday desk swapping then pop over to see our Desk Headmistress, Julia HERE.

Just before I go and make some lunch and settle down for some serious desk hopping I thought I'd just share our Christmas cake with you. You may remember these snowmen from a previous post. Well they danced around our cake happily and now that the cake has all been eaten, yes we are cakeaholics in this house, they have been safely put away for next year. As you can see my writing piping needs some practise although the piping round the bottom was done by my 10 year old daughter!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Wednesday.

  1. Funnily enough, I was just commenting on another blog about our unseasonably mild weather - though I see from the forecasts that it gets a lot colder this weekend!
I love that card you've made - you're clever in the way the spotty ribbon is echoed in the flowers and the soft ones are really lovely. Me likee!!

  2. Really pretty card Lisa. I love cutting out as you say it's very relaxing! Your Christmas cake looks yummy, no wonder it's all gone!! It's mild here as well, managed to get my gardening done but I actually wish I was out walking on the moor.... ah well, maybe it might be a mild sunny day again sometime this year!! Jill x

  4. Wow! That is a huge glass mat you have there. Gotta ask, can you use a heat gun with it? Then it would warrant me buying a new one if it did.
Your cards are pretty but the piece de resistance is your cake! Those snowmen are gorgeous and as for your daughter's piping - well done to her!
I think next year we should make a feature of showing our cakes between Christmas and New Year!

  8. Oooo, I didn’t realise that Polkadoodles did CD’s, think I need to get with the times and go have a little lookie Loving the card you’ve made, especially the colour scheme, really pretty!
Your cake looked great and I bet it tasted good too. Hope you’ve not stored those little snowmen anywhere warm, you wouldn’t want to open their box next Christmas and just find a puddle, would you, Lol!

Thanks for stopping by this week and ……..
    Happy Crafting!

  11. I know what you mean about the garden Lisa. I had to make myself go out and cut back the flowering fuschias and roses as my Dad instructed me on Sunday. 'They need rest, girl' get'em cut back!' So I thought I'd better. My snowdrops are out, there are buds on some daffodils, white camelia in full bloom and the clematis montana is just NOT shedding last year's leaves!!!

I love the card you've made it's SOOOO pretty!

And thanks for the glass mat review - I've been thinking of getting one for ages. Does it take a heat gun??

  12. Your polkadoodles card is beautiful, Lisa. Cutting out, like colouring I find very therapeutic! Glad you are enjoying your glass cutting mat. I spent a week wondering if I'd done the right thing, as I found it a little slippy at times, but now I'm used to it I love it. Great for inking on too! Your cake looks fabulous! Cakeaholics unite!

  18. Beautiful card - cutting is very relaxing isn't it. Ooops, I spied you left the protective corners on your mat - I whipped mine straight off and threw them away away :( And, shame there's not cake left - I'm surprised you could bear to cut into it - beautiful!

Oh, and I'll try chopping into the TH tattered floral die cut papers to make roses- so far have just scrumpled them a bit to look shabby :) Di xx

  19. Yes, the weather has turned so warm that my wild strawberries have been fulled into blossom - they are in for a shock next week cos it's going to be cold. I've got a glass mat - not as posh as yours :)) - but so useful. Your card is pretty - love the paper piecing of the flowers and all the spots, love polka dots, very nice. Your snowman cake is/was fun even if you are not so happy with the writing :)) Have a great week. Elizabeth x #96

Now you have me curious, you see in a candy I won (on B.s blog _ Floral fantasies) I had a Polkadoodle cd and never really knew what they were or what to do and so it is till sitting it n its sealed state. I can see I am going to have to get it out - are they digi images you have coloured or are they already coloured and you spend heaps on printing stuff out? that I what worried me, you see...Happy WOYWW, Shaz in oz.x

  30. My big mat needs replacing, maybe I should think about glass! Now where do you get them from?
Love your card, especially the way you have married the flowers to the ribbon, very effective (and clever).
The cake looks lovely and your daughter obviously has talent, the shells she has done around the base are so good.
Thanks for visiting me - sorry I am so late but I am on vacation and don't get as much computer time as at home.
    Hugs, Neet
