This might go to explain what is on my workdesk today. Here it is in it's full glory for WOYWW. If you haven't shared your desk yet where have you been. I sell a few cards in my hairdresser's shop, which is how I fund my crafty habit and over the months I've discovered that the cards that sell really well are pretty decoupage with ribbons and bows. My lovingly stamped and coloured ones tend to be much slower to go. It's quite nice though to craft without too much thought, it's quite therapeutic and here you can see a really pretty Hunkydory die cut decoupage kit in progress. I have mounted them on a Marianne D die I had for my birthday. It's quite big and the perfect size for these.

ReplyDeleteIt's funny isn't it, the cards some people prefer? I've sold some that I wasn't massively keen on yet others that I prefer haven't always sold as well. I guess there's nowt as queer as folk!

Your desk always looks interesting Lisa! At the moment mine is full of punches that I am taking to another Retreat (yes another one!) this weekend. Thought everyone might like to have a go with them. Oh yes and my DT card for Just Tracys!

Your hands may be sore but I bet you got loads of satisfaction seeing the kids decorating their spectacles. That's a very pretty card and I too love that Marianne Die but I can never get the embossed bit right.

ReplyDeleteRe the cards, there is no accounting for taste. It was the same when I did silversmithing and often things didn't sell then I'd go somewhere else and the same items flew out.

ReplyDeleteI’ve never used Hunkydory myself but I did see them on TV the other day and came very close to buying a kit but I resisted the temptation.

Agree that peoples aste often seems odd! By the way, if you often have to cut out a lot of things like that, try the Fiskars( I think) shear scissors. My DIL used to do a lot of this for her kids school crafting, and I suggested them to her- she said it made it much less painful!They have a nice sharp point to for fiddly stuff. Shaz #118

ReplyDeleteLovely card you have made and those look interesting on your desk. I can vouch for what you say - people do seem to prefer non stamped cards when you are selling.
