Morning dear Deskers from a sunny Yorkshire this morning. It's surprisingly mild for mid October with a good breeze so I'm happy to be still be drying clothes outside in the fresh air.
My desk this morning
This is the back of a layout I finished last week. The paper is from 49 and Market, one of my favourite paper companies, it's thick and great quality. This side is quite plain so it's an opportunity to try out a technique I saw on youtube using squares of scrap papers. They are stuck down quite randomly, although random takes me hours to be happy with. Everything is dry brushed with gesso to blend them together. I've added stencilled texture paste and stamping but I'm not quite sure where I'm going now so it's been sat like this for a few days. The photo is my daughter's graduation from a few years ago. It was one of those perfect days so I want to do it justice.
This is the layout from the other side and the reason I chose the paper in the first place. It matched the photo I took during our holiday in Croatia in July and was one of those layouts that came together quite quickly, which is unusual for me. I usually take ages rummaging through boxes and drawers looking for things.
On a personal note it was our 28th Wedding Anniversary last weekend so we went out for lunch to Betty's in Harrogate for a treat. You always have to queue and it was a bit damp, but that didn't spoil the day. Everyone chats as they wait so you meet all sorts of interesting people and our meal was delicious, as was the pot of tea.
With the mild weather we're having the garden is still full of colour and the autumn hues are just adding to the effect.
Well, that's me this week. I hope you've all had a good week and I look forward to desk hopping later on to see what everyone's been up to. Thank you Julia for hosting WOYWW.

What a lovely cheerful post ! Happy anniversary too . Meal looks yummy! Helen #1
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile, I’m one of those people who take ages to do ‘random’, I always end up with a pattern in it somewhere, I find it one of the hardest things to do! I love your LOs, really beautiful as is your garden, I’ve got lots still flowering too. Happy Anniversary too, sounds like you had a lovely day π₯°

ReplyDeleteI love your LOs but like you I would struggle to do random…I’m too indecisive. Your garden is looking lovely.

Ooh Lisa, your garden is wonderful! I live the 2 LOs, the random squares look really good, what a great idea. I like the additions of a bit of tape too. Like you, I wouldn’t be random in creating the look of random! Also like you, big fan of 49&M, first the art and then the paper quality, never thought I’d be doing 2 sided LOs but I do a fair few now!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous layouts, your 'random' looks great and very natural - not something I find easy to do at all! Your garden is looking so pretty and colourful for this time of year - I have very little in flower now, so I'm having some garden envy!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week, Hapyp WOYWW,

ReplyDeleteAnother post that really lifts my mood. So cheery and lovely - what a garden! After our dry dry summer it really feels like a rebirth. Love the layout too - and Happy Anniversary. What is 28? Orchid or Nickel apparently. ...

Gorgeous scrapping, the TH clock is perfect for such LOs. Love how you use "BOTH" sides which is something I have never done just in case I wish to move pages around iyswim also the bumpiness.... The graduation page is indeed very special already, love them both. Super colourful garden and happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI got back into journalling last night but today hit again with road chaos, footway obstructions but at last a response from my MP. However her caseworker asked if I had contacted my ward councillors in the first instance, I related the 2 months on nothing despite my best efforts to keep contacting them. Oh man. Hugs Bj#9
Wow that is a gorgeous layout Lisa. I had to chuckle, yes takes me forever to do 'random'. Garden is looking lovely and I also enjoy still getting most of my washing dry out doors.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx
Lovely garden, I love an "English garden"! Happy Anniversary! We are going out tonight for our 42nd Anniversary! Your layouts are lovely, I've always likes that clock die, I even have it, but I don't think I've ever used it! I love how you used it! πHave a wonderful week, Lindart #16❤️
